Application Process

All applications for a PTSD Service Dog are handled by United by Trauma, who follows a rigorous and transparent process for assessment and evaluation of every application . Normally, an application is assessed within a few weeks, unless there are unusual circumstances. After an applicant has been approved for a PTSD Service Dog, he/she is put on a waiting list. In general, the PTSD Service Dogs are available for placement in the fall and in the spring.
Before placement, the applicant will be matched with a specific dog during a Meet-And-Greet session(s).  Each one of our PTSD Service Dogs is an individual with a distinct personality, skills and abilities. So, matching an applicant with the most suitable candidate  is an important part of this process. After a specific dog has been selected,  it's time to undergo In Canis Speramus' Transition Program.  This takes place at one of our training facilities.
All personal information, including medical history and family income, submitted by an applicant is confidential and will  not be shared except for assessment of the PTSD Service Dog Application .
